Missed Childhood

Hold on tight,
With both your hands,
Life's greatest treasure,
That we could ever have.
The sparkling twinkle of the eye,
The smile that lit the face,
The high pitched giggle,
That made birds fly.
The easy tears,
The ones that flew with ease,
The runny little nose,
That let the pain out.
The little make believe stories,
The ones with happy endings,
The ones that left you awed,
That made you believe in magic.
The eyes that shut on their own,
The comfort of the night,
The ones that opened afresh,
The ones that took you to dreamland.
Now I have all I want,
Yet I have nothing,
I do have these memories
That I hold tight with both hands
