Beyond the Numbers

All through life, numbers mattered,
The percentage I got,
The package that I earned,
The followers that were apparently friends.
Today, I don't want numbers,
The number on the oxymeter,
Or the one that shows on the thermometer,
Or the statistics of dead and recovered figures.
I want to be grateful,
For the breath I take with ease,
For when I can hug the ones I love,
For making through this pandemic,
Without turning into a number.
