A New Me

Once upon the COVID time,

When the stock of spices ran low,

I stood in my kitchen,

Brooding over the stove,

What could I really make,

When the cupboard lay bare,

The cook books didn't help,

Few ingredients were spare.

Then I found a bottle of energy,

I had saved in the bottom of the pile,

From when I had stopped walking,

That unnecessary extra mile.

And right beside it lay,

Love in a tiny bottle,

From when I had stopped caring,

Going out of my way.

And in a tiny box almost hidden,

Were few strands of confidence,

From when I had ignored,

Harsh words said unbidden.

With a little bit of these,

I made my own recipe,

That turned out the best ,

A very different new me.
